Little Vintages

30th September 2005, Singapore - In dedication to all tiny people this Children's Day and the people who brought them into this world.

Little people with great ambitions
Stake or stove we their aspirations?
The ceiling to juvenile pursuits is as glass
To breakthrough, to conquer, to surpass
Potential, vigor - the essence of youth
plausibly unstoppable in the search for truth
Should zest fizzle, when ladders to dreams turn brittle
What then is childhood with all but to brood?

As arrows in hand, they'll fly where you show
To the stars or the ground, don't break the bow
Incubate your little ones, prepare them for the day
When fiery darts and testing comes
To stand their ground unfazed
Envelope them in wise teachings
Withhold not your love and listening
Children are God's gift to us,
mature them as wines, characteristically vintage.

Karibu! (Kenya Report Pt.3)

12th September 2006, Singapore - Border security has been tightened at all entry points of the Southeast Asian city state ahead of the IMF-World Bank meetings which officially begin tomorrow. If this were Kenya, they'd say "Karibu!" to all 16,000 delegates arriving for this high profile event.

While Singapore is thrust into the spotlight, this publication has decided to go against the grain and continue its special pictorial spread on the Southeast African nation of Kenya. The editor who was on location last month filed these pictures.

Beyond (Kenya Report Pt.2)

1st September 2006, Singapore - Kenya has narrowly edged out Australia. And it's not in the prestigious world athletics championships. Sure! The Kenyans would out-run and out-last the Aussies but that wouldn't be by a narrow margin would it? So what has Kenya pipped Australia to? It overthrew Oz as THE nation the editor would most like to revisit. August 2007? Only God knows when it'll happen for him.

Beyond the dry, parched land, the outpouring of love & hospitality shown by the brethren was refreshing.
Beyond the subsistence living and what little they had, their abundance was found in the assurance of God's love and care.
Beyond the uncertainty of the next rainfall, their faith that their Heavenly Father would provide in His time was steadfast.
Beyond the seemingly 'needful' engine-driven modes of transportation, they never murmured about long walks on dusty tracks to church.
Beyond the isolation, distanced from the world, there was quiet trust and fellowship with Christ.
Beyond esteemed educational systems, they lived the way they knew how.
Beyond the manuals and menus, they knew how to 'drive' the ass and cattle to the waters and wells.
Beyond the sea, they're just like you and me.
Beyond ourselves, how far do we see?
Beyond ourselves, how much do we share?
Beyond ourselves, how great is our God.
Beyond ourselves, let us see that we share our God to those beyond our land.
